NOLA Funk Fest Details 2023 Celebration with George Porter Jr., Ivan Neville, Irma Thomas and More

NOLA Funk Fest announced that this year it will be ushering in some of the most celebrated and passionate artists to represent the funk that percolated from the Crescent City’s fertile musical soil on the grounds of the New Orleans Jazz Museum from Oct. 20 to Oct. 22. The three-day gathering, brought to fans by The Louisiana Music and Heritage Experience, will celebrate the sounds, sights, tastes, and soul of New Orleans in the French Quarter with a truly illustrious array of guests.

The event plans to serve as “the coming out party for the Louisiana Music & Heritage Experience, an under-development museum of grand scale dedicated to the preservation of Louisiana’s rich musical history.” Pure New Orleans funk acts performing over the three days across two stages include Experiencing the Meters with Leo Nocentelli, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, George Porter Jr. and the Runnin’ Pardners, Irma Thomas, Krasno Moore Project, Bucktown Allstars, Ivan Neville, Ghost Note, Big Sam’s Funky Nation, Erica Falls & Vintage Soul, and more.

NOLA Funk Fest will also feature programming that will give attendees a taste of what the museum will offer including an exhibit “I Found My Thrill: The Music and Artistry of Fats Domino and Dave Bartholomew,” along with two symposiums–on Earl King and Dave Bartholomew, respectively–where oral histories, flavored by musical performances will highlight the evolution of blues and jazz into R&B, rock-and-roll, and funk.

Early Bird Tickets for Single Day, Three Day Pass, and VIP Experiences will be available Friday, April 7 at 10 a.m. central. The symposiums on Earl King and Dave Bartholomew will commence on Saturday and Sunday, and the Fats Domino Exhibit is free with every ticket.
