Why is ‘Addison Rae dead’ trending?

The trend “Addison Rae is dead” was circling around social media for some time after made up rumours started up that the star had been in a tragic car crash.

Fortunately she is still alive and well and is back posting on social media frequently.

Her TikTok account has over 88million followers, making her the fourth most-followed content creator on the video platform, to date.

And her Instagram also over 36million fans on it who love to keep up to date with the influencer and watch her career continue to shine from music videos to film roles.

What have Addison Rae fans said?

A horrible trend started to circulate on X, formerly known as Twitter, about the TikTok sensation.

Many users started to use #RIPAddisonRae on the end of their posts talking about how sorely missed Addison will be.

This led to many fearing the worst and continuing to pile on messages of condolence using the hashtag even though the star wasn’t dead.

One wrote: “I love you and will miss you. Forever my role model,” followed by the hashtag.

As another said: “Sending love and prayers to the family #RIPAddisonRae.”

Many people also sent angry messages using the hashtag and demanded those who started the twisted trend to stop.

One user put: “Can’t believe people were using #RIPAddisonRae that’s so toxic.

“People should think before they type.”

When did the hoax start?

The hoax started back in 2021 after the TikToker stopped posting updates on her social media accounts for a few weeks.

It is believed that the trend quickly gained momentum when Addison deactivated her X account, leading to many thinking this meant something serious had happened to her.

But now the star is back posting again and the rumours have been well and truly ended as she’s gone on to become a popular movie star.

Starring in films such as He’s All that, Thanksgiving and is set to perform alongside Hollywood icon Ryan Reynolds in her newest blockbuster flick Animal Friends.

In this time she has also flourished in the music industry with multiple top selling songs and her 2023 EP titled AR that features five songs including her best performing single – Obsessed.

The song peaked at number ten on the US Billboard Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart making it a great success.

Because of her TikTok fame, Addison also struck up an unlikely friendship with Kourtney Kardashian.

The pair first met because Kourtney’s 12-year-old son, Mason Disick, is a fan of Addison’s Tik Tok videos, and back in March 2020 Addison and Mason collaborated on a Tik Tok video.

The duo has been good friends ever since and the pair even did a virtual workout from their homes, which now has over 5million views on the POOSH YouTube channel.
