I’m a master at tan-touring and use it for everything from foundation to freckles – fake tan is 5-in-1 shampoo for girls

Tan-touring is a way of sculpting your face without make-up

TAN-TOURING has been doing the rounds on social media since 2018 as women hailed it the ultimate way to sculpt your face.

It involves painting the areas of your face that you’d typically contour with fake tan to chisel your cheeks and jawline, as well as add dimension to your forehead.

One make-up whizz showcased how she’s mastered the beauty trend to not only sculpt her face, but also add freckles.

Elle James dubbed fake tan “the girl’s version of men’s 5-in-1 shampoo” and shared a tutorial patting it into her cheeks, forehead, eye-lids and hairline.

The 24-year-old even paints down the sides of her nose and around her lips.

For freckles, she uses an old make-up brush and dabs the separated strands across her nose and cheeks.

Elle uses the award-winning BiaBelle Beauty Hydrating Foam Tan, which will set you back £20 a bottle.

To prevent mess, she decants some of the foam into the bottle’s lid and dips her make-up brushes into it.

The influencers 119,000 followers jumped into the comments of her Instagram tutorial to gain clarity on the method.

“How long do you leave it on?” one asked.

“I’ve tried multiple times and it always comes completely off when I wash my face.”

Elle shared that she leaves the fake tan to work its magic overnight and washes it off in the morning.

I ’ve been fake tanning for 10 years and have tested all the posh, expensive brands but a £3 bottle from Savers is hands down the besT

When asked if it causes spots, she said: “If I wear tan on my face, I get the odd black head.

“But I do my skincare, then tan – and this tan doesn’t break me out.”

Using tan to sculpt has long been used by professional spray tan artists, typically on celebrities to create muscle definition and even the illusion of abs.

But it’s believed that applying the theory to your face was popularised by Marissa Carter, the founder of Cocoa Brown Tan.

Fake tans can get a bit of a bad rep for looking patchy and being hard to apply, especially to the face and neck area.

The Sun put together the 30 best fake tans you can buy in the UK ahead of this summer, including long-lasting and cream formulas.

With social calendars filling up for the hotter season, it’s time to get our tanning arsenal topped up.
