AS January comes to an end, many of us will have been putting the hours in at the gym.
One gymgoer has hit back at trolls though, after they cruelly claimed her bodybuilder husband was trying to help her lose weight.
For influencer Alicia Mccarvell, this isn’t anything new though.
The Tiktok star regularly has to deal with fat phobic comments, after her videos showing her ‘extremely handsome’ husband Scott went viral in 2019.
Despite the couple being blissfully happy and together since they were sixteen, commenters struggle to understand her relationship.
Rather than wishing them well, viewers often assume that Alicia is the ‘fat friend’ of the bodybuilder or make cruel jibes about her being plus-sized.
In fact, the comments are littered with hateful trolls claiming her husband is ‘too out of her league’, ‘he’s cheating’ or that ‘he settled’.
Sadly, it wasn’t long until similar comments appeared on a recent video of her and her husband at the gym together.
Dressed in gorgeous purple gym gear, Alicia began lip-syncing to the viral song “I want something that I want” from Disney’s Tangled.
As she happily jumped on the trend, her husband Scott stepped into frame and joined in – playfully singing along with his beloved bride.
Though it was meant to be a light hearted video, almost immediately someone decided to comment on Alicia being plus size.
Whilst there was no reference to any routine or training, one commenter assumed that the bodybuilder must have been ‘helping’ the content creator lose weight.
They wrote: “Is he helping you loose the weight? Must be fab having someone in the gym who knows what they’re doing.”
Having dealt with these kinds of comments before, the influencer immediately corrected the Tiktok user – adding that she was more than comfortable breaking a sweat.
She pointedly told them: “No, he isn’t. A common misconception is that I don’t know what I’m doing in the gym – but I do!”
Others in the comments also defended the Canadian content creator, with many claiming that the husband and wife were ‘couple goals’.
One wrote: “Stop being so cute I can’t handle it!”
Another added: “I just love you guys. Your energy is everything.”
“Y’all ARE THE REASON WHY I STILL BELIEVE IN TRUE REAL LOVE,” gushed a third.
Whilst her fans might be protective, Alicia has learned to brush off mean comments after her videos first broke the internet over four years ago.
A fierce self-love advocate, she regularly encourage fans to ignore beauty standards and continues to post about her mixed weight-relationship.
In a viral post on Instagram, she even said that society was ‘the problem’ rather than her relationship.
Sharing a photo of her and her husband surrounded by cruel comments, she wrote: “I want to set the record straight: our relationship isn’t the problem, society is. Your relationship isn’t the problem, society is.”
Alicia then cheekily added: “You are worthy, your love is valid, and society can pound sand, while you pound each other.”
We couldn’t agree more!
