Band To Say Goodbye After 20 Years

You Me At Six have announced that after nearly 20 years together, they are saying goodbye.

The band released a message to fans on social media earlier today (January 31), saying “2005-2025 This is the end. Thank you for being the heartbeat of this band. Final live shows taking place 2024/2025.” You can sign up for more information now at sixerforlife.com.

They have also released a new video to their YouTube channel simply called ‘Time’ which sees frontman Josh Franceschi recite a poem as they look back on their career while strolling through a graveyard, finishing at a giant, flaming version of their famous VI logo.

In an additional press statement, Franceschi said “When we started YMAS we were kids. We only ever wanted longevity, to travel and to experience life as a group of friends. We feel like on the eve of our 20th anniversary as a band, now is a good time to call time. We’re in a fortunate position where our fans still want to see us live and come celebrate the life of this band. So that is what we will do for 2024 and 2025. We can’t wait to see our fans on the road.

Following their debut record ‘Take Off Your Colours’ in 2006, the band went on to release seven more studio albums, all of which charted in the UK Top 10, with two, ‘Cavalier Youth’ and ‘SUCKAPUNCH’, hitting No.1.

Their most recent album, ‘Truth Decay’, was released last year and included the singles ‘Deep Cuts’ and ‘No Future? Yeah Right’ featuring Enter Shikari‘s Rou Reynolds.

Several of their singles have received Silver certifications in the UK for sales of over 200,000 units, including ‘Stay With Me’ and ‘Underdog’. Their albums ‘Hold Me Down’, ‘Sinners Never Sleep’ and ‘Cavalier Youth’ have also been certified Gold.

In another recent milestone, their 2017 track ‘Take On The World’ just passed 100 million streams on Spotify earlier this month.

YMAS will headline Slam Dunk in Hatfield and Leeds this May which will be their final ever UK festival performance. Get tickets and more details here.
