Beabadoobee slams TikTok trolls over viral meme about her

Beabadoobee took to TikTok to rant about comments referencing a meme about her, sparking mixed reactions from fans.

Videos featuring the ‘Artists Who Can Sing vs. Artists Who Can’t’ meme have been going viral throughout February. These often flip expectations by jokingly labeling established singers as the ones who “can’t sing,” while featuring rapper NBA YoungBoy as the one who “can sing.”

One popular clip included singer Beabadoobee, leading TikTok users to flood her profile with comments referencing the meme – many of which she described as “weird sh*t.”

These prompted the Filipino-British singer to respond with a TikTok story on February 21, where she called out the trolling behavior. “F**king men commenting ‘Artists Who Can Sing vs. Who Can’t,’ like just tell me you don’t get no girls. Just tell me your mother didn’t love you,” she said.

Doubling down, she added, “I know men are mad at me because I probably get more girls than them.” She then dismissed the comments entirely, saying, “Who gives a f**k? I still make more money than you.”

The story was deleted soon after, following backlash from some of her fans. On February 22, Beabadoobee posted another TikTok story to apologize and clarify her stance. She said that her frustration wasn’t with the meme itself but with the repetitive and intrusive comments it generated.

Comparing it to a schoolyard joke, she explained that while it might be funny at first, the constant repetition eventually becomes overwhelming. “It gets to a point where it literally just involves your entire life, because it’s constantly being shoved to your face. It was funny, but now it’s pissing me off,” she said.

Beabadoobee also pointed out how these comments tend to snowball, and invite waves of negativity in her comment sections.

The reaction to the 25-year-old’s statements has been mixed, with some people dismissing her response as an overreaction.

“No way Beabadoobee fell for rage bait that was calling her a good singer,” one X user wrote. “How Beabadoobee saw stuff like [the meme] and took it SERIOUSLY??” another questioned.

However, most fans have expressed their support for her. “Her frustration is understandable, boundaries matter online,” one noted. “She’s a queen, sorry!” another said. “The Internet can be so toxic. Sending love to Beabadoobe,” a third commented.
