Rod Stewart has said he is considering selling his collection of five sports cars due to the worsening potholes near his home in Harlow, Essex.
“I am extremely fortunate and eternally grateful to be the owner of these five beautiful hybrid sports cars, which, in my opinion, are true ‘works of art,’” Stewart wrote on Instagram. “Unfortunately, because of the potholes on our roads, I may have to find new owners for them.”
He continued, “I’ve been driving these iconic Italian cars since the seventies, and I absolutely love and adore them. This post is for my fans — thank you, as you are the sole reason I own them. 🤩 And to all the trolls… don’t bother; I never read the comments.”
A spokesperson for the Essex County Council (via BBC) has addressed Stewart’s concerns by saying, “An additional £37 million is being invested to address potholes and carry out larger scale works, like resurfacing and vegetation clearance, through our priority one program. As a result, more potholes around the county are being fixed, so Sir Rod can join other Essex residents sailing along our roads.”
Stewart previously criticized the state of local roads in 2022 by sharing a video of him filling in holes near his home because “no one can be bothered to do it.” He added, “This is the state of the road near where I live in Harlow and it’s been like this for ages… So me and the boys thought we would come and do it ourselves.”
At 79 years old, Stewart hasn’t eased up on his road schedule. He has a pair of European dates in December and will be touring extensively in 2025 across North America and Europe. See the full schedule below, and get tickets here.
