“She Cleans Up” is the latest single from Mahashmashana, Father John Misty’s first album since 2022’s Chloë and the Next 20th Century. With a bluesy hue, playful instrumentation, and a healthy amount of cowbell, the song has a more nostalgic presentation compared to the previously-released epic “Screamland.” He references Mary Magdalene, demons and the devil, and other religious imagery throughout, reprising his signature loaded lyrical style.
