A$AP Rocky has apologized to attendees of Rolling Loud New York over the weekend. Here’s why.

The rapper was headlining the Rolling Loud New York festival over the weekend on the second day. During his set, Rocky did a stage drive into the crowd–which didn’t want to let him go. A viral video of the incident soon surfaced on YouTube Shorts, showing the rapper struggling to free himself from the crowd.

“Lift me up,” he yells at the crowd. “Get him out!” another person can be heard screaming in the video. There are only about ten seconds of video in the clip, but the rapper doesn’t appear to be too pleased. Tyler the Creator even threw shade at his friend by changing his Instagram avatar to a screencap from the video.

Following the mosh pit incident, the rapper’s Rolling Loud New York set was cut short. He issued an apology to fans via social media on Sunday night. “I am so hurt right now! Last night was supposed to be a turning point in my live shows from old to new!” the rapper writes on Twitter. “I will take full responsibility for the circumstances of what led to last nights show being everything it was and everything it wasn’t.”

“I also want to acknowledge that even tho I prepared the best show for my fans, detail for detail, over the course of months,” he continued. “I was unfortunately not able to bring my vision to fruition and I’m hurt about that and I want to apologize to all of my fans and continued supporters, and thank y’all for showing up for me regardless!!”

Despite the shortened set, the appearance has become hugely talked about on social media. Mostly thanks to the viral video of the rapper terrified of escaping the mosh pit, but nobody ever said touring was easy. Fans reacted with mostly humor.

“A$AP Rocky was fighting for his life in that mosh pit last night; bro yelled ‘Let me out!’” one tweeted with two cry-laughing emojis.
