Lauren Flymen, known for her Instagram account Lauren Jumps, is a fitness influencer with her own unique workout program: It consists of jumping (aka skipping) rope. She showed off her moves on a recent reel. Flymen captioned the post, “Fancy footwork šš¼ š¤ learn with my app @fancy.feats,” she said, offering a free 7 day trial. How does she stay so fit? Read on to see 5 ways Lauren Flymen stays in shape and the photos that prove they work.
Flymen is very determined to reach her goals. She tells Get The Gloss, “I am a sporty person, and I grew up doing dance and sports such as squash, netball, lacrosse and athletics so I guess I’m quite coordinated although, that said, skipping made me feel very uncoordinated at first. It’s so much harder than it looks. I’m quite a determined person and hate being rubbish at things so I guess I do pick things up quickly due to this.”
Why does Flymen jump rope to stay fit? She enjoys it. “The best fitness advice I’ve ever received was to do something you enjoy and enjoy being fit and healthy,” she said, according to Muscle and Health. “If you don’t enjoy it, you won’t be able to sustain it and won’t want to do it every day. So, find something you love doing every day. People should start skipping for the same reason I did because it’s so much fun. And once they get started, they won’t be able to stop.”
Although the majority of comments on her posts are rightly super-positive, sometimes, trolls may say something about her looks. Does she take it to heart? “It depends on how I’m feeling that day,” she said on the Born to Fly podcast. “Sometimes I’m like laugh can laugh it off and then sometimes for some reason it just gets to you. Sometimes it is three in a row and it’s like the last three comments I receive on different posts someone’s having a dig about. Some people say you always do the same thing.” Her hack? She tries to focus on the positive comments, too. “I try and I always say to myself if I’m going to respond to that negative one, I have to respond to all the others. And by the time you’ve responded to all the positive ones, you get to a negative one, you don’t even care anymore.”Ā
Flymen talked about the impact jumping rope has had on her to Get The Gloss. “Jump rope turned my life around in lockdown. Not only am I now the fittest I’ve ever been and in the best shape I’ve ever been, it gave me a reason to get out of bed when I wasn’t working, it gave me something to focus on, and it gave me the satisfaction of something to work towards with unlocking new skills. It kept me healthy, it connected me with people around the world and gave me a sense of togetherness.”
Lauren is thrilled to promote something “that you can do on your own that’s enjoyable, that you can do anywhere, that you can learn,” she said on the Born to Fly podcast. “There’s so much to learn, it’s never ending and there’s, it is like an escape, isn’t it? And it’s such a great hobby that you don’t need a gym membership, you don’t need anything, you don’t need someone else to be able to do it with and you can do it anywhere. I think it’s like being able to find something that I love so much I’m so passionate aboutā¦.actually being in a situation where I can influence people to try this thing that’s so fun and they believe it. They believe from watching my videos that it’s really enjoyable to the extent where they try it themselves and then they realize themselves how much it can change their lives and how enjoyable it is for them and how much of an escape it is for them from their problems. So being in that situation, finding that thing for me and also helping others find that thing is the best thing.”
