Actor Albie Casiño was finally able to fulfill his dream of becoming a host as he was chosen to emcee “Top Class: Rise To P-Pop Stardom,” the newest interactive P-pop talent reality competition in the Philippines.

“Paglabas ko ng [‘Pinoy Big Brother’] sabi ko gusto kong subukan maging host (After I got out of PBB I said I want to try to be a host),” he said during the mall show and media conference entitled “Stan Up! Top Class Grand Mediacon” held last Sunday, June 12, Independence Day, at the Glorietta Activity Center in Makati City.

Hosted by VJ Ai, who is also the host of the Kumu show P-Popsilog on the Top Class Kumu channel, the event was graced by G22 and VXON (read as “vision”) as guest performers.

Hosting, actually, is a struggle for the actor because he is a dyslexic.

“Kapag may prompter, natatakot ako. Siyempre, sa lahat naman ng bagay, habang patagal nang patagal mong ginagawa ay gumagaling ka sa bagay na ‘yon,” he said. (Whenever there is a prompter, I get scared. Of course, in all things, while you’re doing it always you become better in that activity.)

But now, the actor got the hang of it. After he reads the prompter, he already knows the talking points of the event.

“Kapag nagsasalita ka sa harapan ng maraming tao, mahirap talaga (When you’re talking in front of many people, it is difficult). You’re talking to a lot of people,” he said.

Eventually, he overcame his fear and realized he could actually host. But he still has reservations.

“Siguro, hindi ko pa masasabi na host talaga ako until I host a major pageant. Doon ko masasabi na host na talaga ako. Or host sa mga company Christmas party, corporate events,” he said.

(Maybe I cannot say that I am really already a host until I host a major pageant. That’s where I can say that I am really already a host. Or if I already get to host a company Christmas party or corporate events.)

A partnership between Kumu, TV5, Cignal Entertainment and Cornerstone Entertainment, “Top Class: Rise to P-Pop Stardom” started airing last June 18 on Kumu (daily streaming) and TV5 (every Saturday). JB
