Violent Femmes have announced a Spring 2024 North American tour that will see the folk-punk legends playing their first two albums in full at each stop.
Last year, the Femmes played their classic 1983 self-titled debut LP in its entirety on a 40th anniversary tour. This year, they’re doubling the fun. The shows will start out with a full performance of 1984’s Hallowed Ground in celebration of its 40th anniversary, followed by a brief intermission. Then the band will return to play the self-titled effort in full, followed by a few favorites from other albums.

The outing kicks off May 1st in San Francisco, and wraps up May 18th in Detroit. An artist pre-sale starts Wednesday (March 13th) at 10 a.m. local time via Ticketmaster using the code ADDITUP, while a Live Nation pre-sale begins Thursday (March 14th) at 10 a.m. local time with the code KEY, followed by a general on sale that commences Friday (March 15th).

As a press release points out, frontman Gordon Gano wrote the songs that ended up on both the debut LP and Hallowed Ground while he was in high school, adding, “In fact, the tracks for Hallowed Ground were penned long before the release of Violent Femmes, but the band wanted to focus on upbeat songs for the debut album and wanted to ‘confuse people’ with the more experimental songs that ended up as Hallowed Ground.”
Last year, Heavy Consequence had the pleasure of attending a Violent Femmes show in New York City, where we witnessed the band playing memorable songs from the debut album such as “Blister in the Sun,” “Kiss Off,” “Add It Up,” and “Prove My Love.”
