Brownlee opened up about her life and career in an interview with The Cut. She says that she has struggled with the lack of privacy that comes from being famous. However, she is still happy with her life and success. “I wouldn’t trade nothing. Because I felt like it’s my destiny. This is what God wants for me. I just feel like you got to learn how to deal with it.”

Brownlee tells The Cut that she has learned to watch what she publicly does, since a lot of people are watching her. “Sometimes, I just don’t give a [expletive]. But then a lot of times, I don’t even want to deal with it. I don’t want to have to clear nothing up or say, Oh, I didn’t mean it like that. So now I’m just more chill, calm, collected, and very aware of my surroundings. When you’re a public figure, you gotta move a certain way.”

The City Girls recently announced a partnership with the skincare line, Cota Girl. In an interview, they revealed that they sought out the partnership because they wanted to support black-owned businesses. “I know for Black women, it’s hard for us to get products that really work on our skin,” Brownlee explained. “So, when I saw that the product was created and owned by a Black woman I said, ‘Let me try it out.'”

“I think that you just gotta be yourself, because people, they gravitate towards real,” she explained. “So many people try to be something they not. You just gotta be yourself. I’m just myself,” she told Billboard in November.

“People always saying I don’t deserve stuff. Why don’t I deserve anything?” she asked. “I work hard. I deserve everything. When I just did my first live podcast, it was around the corner. It’s new. We’re in a new time. We’re in a new generation. I’m bringing something new, so why I don’t deserve it?” she told the Breakfast Club.
