Korean YouTuber Banzz is pulling the plug on his channel with over 2 million subscribers after losing an MMA match to comedian Yoon Hyung-bin, part of a viral bet where the loser had to delete their channel.
The high-stakes fight took place on June 28 at Jangchung Arena in Seoul during Goobne Road FC 073. Banzz was stopped just 1 minute and 42 seconds into the first round by TKO, leaving him no choice but to follow through with the bet.
According to Allkpop, Yoon Hyung-bin, who delivered the finishing blows, seemed almost guilty afterward. “I thought about it, and deleting the YouTube channel seems a bit much,” he said before making a joke about uploading videos to Bannzz channel.
He added: “My heart feels heavy… maybe putting one’s livelihood on the line was too much.”
Banzz reflects ahead of deleting channel
The day after the fight, Banzz uploaded a final video to the channel. He said: “This video will be the last one on my channel. While working out, I dreamed of stepping onto the stage of Road FC,” he said. “I had a bet with Yoon Hyung-bin about deleting my channel, and, unfortunately, I lost.
“Having put everything on the line, I now intend to keep my word. This channel will be deleted a week from now, on July 7.”
“For 12 years I uploaded all my videos on this channel. It was like a diary containing everything about me,” he said. “Although the channel will be gone, I’m determined to go back to basics and start over from the beginning.”
This isn’t the first time a YouTuber has put their channel on the line, either. Back in March 2024, Airrack revealed he had made a bet with MrBeast that he would upload a video every day of the year — or let the YouTube star delete his account entirely.
