YouTuber predicted this viral dating sim 8 years ago and now he’s in it

YouTuber ProZD made a joke about dating furniture in 2016. In 2025, it literally came true, and he’s in the game.

Date Everything! takes place entirely inside a single suburban home. No hub world. No neighbor’s house. Just you, your thoughts, and a cursed pair of glasses called Dateviators.

You play as someone who got laid off by AI and now spends their days talking to the microwave. The twist is that the glasses let you see everything as a hot, emotionally available humanoid with a full backstory.

Beds, light switches, even the concept of “air” are all dateable. Sounds like a wild original idea until you realize one of the game’s voice actors came up with it eight years ago, and there’s proof.

ProZD’s 2016 parody predicted the game almost exactly

Eight years ago, YouTuber and voice actor ProZD uploaded a 34-second sketch as a long-form video (very 2016) titled harem anime where everyone but the protagonist is sentient furniture. It was a joke. It barely lasted half a minute.

Now, that joke is basically a AAA romance sim. And ProZD voices one of the characters.

In Date Everything!, he plays Doug, not a couch, not a lamp, but the personification of existential dread.

You can’t find him by accident. You have to stand in silence, staring at a specific yellow wall, for 30 seconds. Only then does Doug show up, shirtless, wearing pink underwear, and immediately belittling you.

He calls you “Dork” for the rest of the game, and you can’t get out of it even if you’ve got the highest SPECS. Then forces you to play Sudoku while he heckles you.

Fans noticed the references right away. Doug mentions “Chairem Anime.” His skits are titled similarly, too. The devs knew exactly what they were doing.

Back in 2016, a 100-character dating sim would have sounded like a Twitter bit. No one had the budget or tech. It was parody because it had to be.

Now it’s real and fully voiced with a stacked cast. The lineup includes Ben Starr, Laura Bailey, Troy Baker, and ProZD, who somehow predicted the whole thing before it was even possible.
