YouTube star Max Fosh legally ‘died’ in a bid to get a refund from an airline, but was stopped at the final hurdle by his lawyer.
Over the last few years, YouTuber Max Fosh has gone viral for a number of pranks and interesting videos. The Brit confused passengers on flights with a massive sign that welcomed them to the wrong city, hired soldiers to beat his friends at paintball, and became the world’s ‘richest’ man for a few minutes.
Just as he did in the world’s richest man video, Fosh usually exploits loopholes that many don’t know about.
That was apparent in his June 30 upload, as he legally ‘died’ to try and get a refund for a plane ticket that he didn’t use. Yes, seriously.
Max Fosh ‘dies’ to get refund on airline ticket
Fosh explained that airlines will only provide cash refunds on unused tickets if the passenger has passed away. “The airline requires a death ceritificate but they don’t state where the death certificate needs to come from,” he said, calling back on his 2023 video where he got a presidential pardon from Gibraltar.
So, to get his £37.28/$51.36 back, he was legally declared dead by the principality of Seborga in Italy. Well, ‘dead’ in the comedy sense of the word, anyway.
With the official document handed over, the airline in question did move forward with his refund request. However, the YouTuber was warned off completing the transaction by his lawyer.
“No, no, no, no, no, no. It is not fraud, but I mean, it is fraudulent,” his lawyer said.
“Because it’s my money that’s being given back to me, it’s not fraud,” Fosh added, warning viewers about copying. “So, he has basically told me off and said I mustn’t claim the money.”
The YouTube star noted that his lawyer would usually let him, but “put his foot down,” for once.
