RYAN REYNOLDS brought a touch of Hollywood glamour to the town of Wrexham after buying the football club in 2020.
And it turns out the Deadpool actor is also bringing the cash, as new accounts reveal he has had a blockbuster 12 months at the League One Red Dragons.
Wrexham banked £26.7million in turnover last year, a £16.2million jump on 2023.
A source said: “Ryan has put Wrexham on the map when it comes to football, but a lot of the money is down to American fans coming over to watch games.
“The place is packed out with tourists buying merchandise and tickets to the club.
“The impact of Ryan and Rob McElhenney, who bought Wrexham with him, really cannot be underestimated. And the money does the talking.”
Ryan’s Disney+ series, Welcome To Wrexham, also did wonders for the club’s profile and helped boost their message worldwide.
UPROAR AT CHAPPELL ‘KID HELL’ CHAT
CHAPPELL ROAN is certainly no stranger to causing a stir – but this time she’s seriously peed off the parent brigade.
Appearing on the Call Her Daddy podcast, the Pink Pony Club singer, 27, said: “All of my friends who have kids are in hell.
“I actually don’t know anyone who’s happy and has children at this age.”
Chappell added of friends who have children under five: “I have not met anyone who’s happy, anyone who has light in their eyes, anyone who’s slept.”
Her comments caused a massive backlash, and TikTok has been going off on one ever since her appearance.
But she’s got a point.
Kids are the most glorious little people, but if I ask any of my sprogged-up mates if they often want to curl into a ball and scream, they all say the same thing . . . yes.
DOLLY’S DREAM
DOLLY PARTON wants to work with Sabrina Carpenter again.
It comes after the country great impressed her nieces and nephews when she joined the singer on a new version of her No1 hit Please Please Please.
Dolly said: “It was fun. It was great. And I’d like to do something else with her.
“Our voices seemed to really work well together.
“My little nieces, and nephews, and all my little friends that age, they all think I’m the biggest thing going now because I worked with her.
“I mean, I was just Gigi and Aunt Dolly until then, and now I’m big stuff.”
RAYE HAS EARNED HER SPURS
RAYE is being lined up to support Beyonce in London this summer at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Bey is playing six dates in the capital, but we understand that due to work commitments, Raye might only pop up at a couple of the gigs in June.
A source said: “It’s a huge deal for Raye. Beyonce is one of her idols and to even be considered to open up for her is a dream come true.
“She is pencilled in for a couple of the shows at Spurs’ ground. Raye is proud of being from London and to be performing at such a huge venue in her home town will be a full-circle moment.”
Bizarre revealed last year that Bey was set to embark on her Cowboy Carter tour, with the trek finally being announced in February.
Raye also wrote the track Bigger for Bey’s 2019 album, The Lion King: The Gift.
MERYL FOR NETFLIX NARNIA SWITCH-UP
MERYL Streep has been offered the role of Aslan in Netflix’s Narnia franchise, changing the lion into a female character.
She is believed to be considering the role for the first movie, The Magician’s Nephew, which will be directed by Barbie’ Greta Gerwig.
Charli XCX is in talks to play the White Witch.
CHRIS: MY BIG C CALL ON SHOW
CAPITAL Breakfast presenter Chris Stark was told he had testicular cancer during his radio show.
The broadcaster revealed his diagnosis last month, but he has now been given the all-clear after having surgery and chemotherapy.
Chris discovered he had it after suffering pain and is urging other men to check for symptoms.
He found out during a 9am phonecall with a doctor, with an hour left of the show.
He said: “It was such a surreal moment because I didn’t tell anyone on my team.
“I just felt really kind of ‘out of body’ because you suddenly start overthinking every eventuality at the same time we’re playing Sabrina Carpenter on the radio.
“The studio has always been my safe space. You can leave a lot of stuff at the door, so that was a really hard one.”
ZARA LACES IT ON HOLS
IT’S not hard to see why Louis Tomlinson has fallen for Zara McDermott.
The former Strictly contestant looked sensational in this black lace dress during a holiday in Dubai, just as it was revealed her ex-boyfriend Sam Thompson is moving on.
The couple split in December after five years together.
But yesterday it was revealed I’m A Celebrity winner Sam has been growing close to Too Hot To Handle’s Lucy Syed.
They are said to have enjoyed a string of nights out together, although those close to him insist they aren’t dating.
Aren’t dating yet, anyway . . .
