Earlier this month, a bodyguard-turned-radio DJ went viral for his account of working with Mike Myers on the movie The Love Guru. Jay Brody claimed that he was fired within hours of starting his job as a bodyguard on the set of the 2008 film just for looking at the star. And he’s not the only person to have come forward with a scathing review of the Wayne’s World star and his attitude on film sets. In 2003, Amy Hill co-starred with Myers in the Dr. Seuss adaptation The Cat in Hat, playing babysitter Mrs. Kwan. In an interview years later, she called working on the movie a “horrible, nightmarish experience” and characterized Myers as a “diva.” Read on to find out more.

In 2016, The A.V. Club interviewed Hill, who has had a long and varied career, about a number of her past roles. When the character actor was asked if there were any projects she didn’t enjoy working on, she recalled her experience filming The Cat in the Hat.
Hill said that if Myers saw her afterwards, he probably wouldn’t remember her. She also said that the star didn’t want cast and crew members looking at him on set, which supports Brody’s account.
“He had his handlers dress his trailer, and his area was all covered with tenting because he didn’t want anybody seeing him,” Hill claimed of the actor, who she also called a “little hermit.” She added, “It was so weird. It was just the worst.”
Hill also claimed that she and the rest of the cast and crew were often kept waiting by the star. “I’d be there at the crack of dawn, waiting,” she said. “We would all be waiting for Mike Myers to come.”
She continued, “It was like I was there forever, and my daughter was two and a half and I felt like I was missing her first everything. I was miserable. I just thought it was really rude for him to not take all of us into consideration.”

Myers did not interact with others on the set, Hill told the outlet. “It was just a horrible, nightmarish experience. I don’t think he got to know anybody,” she said. “He’d just be with his people and walk away. People would come and then he’d stand there.”
Hill remembered the former Saturday Night Live cast member having some very specific requests that she found unreasonable.
“There was a guy who held his chocolates in a little Tupperware,” Myers’ co-star claimed. “Whenever he needed chocolate, he’d come running over and give him a chocolate. That’s what divas are like, I guess. Or people who need therapy.”
Earlier this month, Brody tweeted that he was fired for looking at Myers while working as security outside of the actor’s trailer on The Love Guru. On his radio show, the Canadian DJ said he was ordered not to look at Myers when he took the job, but that this was particularly difficult since Myers was wearing a wig and prosthetics for the film.
When Brody saw a man he thought was Myers, he wanted to be sure, so that he wasn’t letting the wrong person into Myers’ trailer.
“So, I look up, I catch his eye for a second, I give him a nod to let him know I’m cool, and then I look away,” Brody said. “And within an hour, I get a phone call letting me know that I’m fired and I have to get off the set, because I broke this weird rule.” Brody also claimed in a tweet that “everyone [he] worked with got fired within 48 hours.”
Other Twitter users responded to Brody’s recount with similar claims about Myers’ movie sets, including a Love Guru extra who also said he was fired for making eye contact.
Best Life has reached out to a representative for Myers for comment on both Brody and Hill’s stories.
