After spending much of the last six months traveling across the country to Travis Kelce’s games, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end was nowhere to be seen at the Grammy Awards on Sunday night, where his girlfriend Taylor Swift took home two awards.
Unfortunately for the happy couple, the 2024 Grammy Awards fell on the first night of Super Bowl week, with Kelce arriving in Las Vegas just hours prior to begin their preparation for the big game, meaning he wasn’t able to travel out to Los Angeles for the ceremony.
According to a ‘source’ who spoke to the New York Post, “the Chiefs are on a strict schedule leading up to the game, so Kelce has no time for any kind of travel.”
While the NFL has certainly done everything it can to capitalize on the relationship of Swift and Kelce, letting the Chiefs star leave the rest of his team for an awards show in L.A. was probably deemed as being a step too far.
The 34-year-old Swift won Grammys for Best Pop Vocal Album and Album of the Year for his record Midnights. Her Album of the Year win is the fourth in the history of her career, making her the first artist to win the award four times.
In addition to taking home two Grammys for her work on Midnights, Swift also announced the release of her next album, The Tortured Poets Department, on April 19.
As for Kelce, he and the Chiefs will be playing in their second-straight Super Bowl and their fourth in the last five years.
If Kelce, Patrick Mahomes, and the rest of the Kansas City Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers in the Super Bowl — they’re currently 1-point underdogs — it will be the third title of Kelce’s career, further adding to his already-glittering Hall of Fame resume.
