Why Jennifer Lopez And Ben Affleck’s $68M Mansion Remains Unsold

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have yet to secure a buyer for their Beverly Hills mansion after it was listed for sale last month.

The separated duo listed the property in July, several weeks before Lopez filed for divorce in a Los Angeles court.

Despite multiple prospective buyers touring the house, none have been able to meet Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s asking price of $68 million.

It’s been over a month since Lopez and Affleck put up their Beverly Hills mansion for sale. However, despite recent news that Lopez has filed for divorce to end her two-year marriage, the luxurious piece of architecture is yet to be sold.

The duo purchased the home in May 2023 for $60,850,000 but listed it for nearly $8 million more than they paid amid reports of a strain in their marriage at the time.

It has 12 bedrooms, 24 bathrooms, a separate 5,000-square-foot guest penthouse, a two-bedroom guardhouse, and a caretaker house.

Other massive facilities for staff, recreation, and parking include an indoor sports complex featuring basketball and pickleball courts, a fully equipped gym, a boxing ring, a zero-edge swimming pool, and a sports lounge and bar.

Prior to being placed on the market, the mansion was renovated to the highest quality to appeal to prospective buyers.

According to reports, it is unsurprising that a buyer has yet to pick up the house despite it being on the market for more than a month.

A source told TMZthat the high interest rates on the real estate market currently won’t make it easy to make a deal. Additionally, Lopez and Affleck listed the mansion for far more than they purchased it, and there is likely only a small number of people who could meet that price.

Still, a couple of potential buyers have visited the mansion, which implies that it is only a matter of time before it goes off the market.

However, if and when that happens, Lopez and Affleck will likely not make much profit due to the cost of renovations and the usual tax on Los Angeles mansions.

Rumors of a looming separation between Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck intensified when news broke that the couple had put their luxurious mansion on the market.

These speculations were confirmed on August 20, exactly two years after their wedding, when the “Atlas” star officially filed for divorce.

Lopez’s filing cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the end of her highly publicized union with the “Accountant” star and listed that the duo have been separated since April this year.

Unlike many failed marriages, in which the person filing for divorce often requests spousal support, Lopez stated explicitly that neither she nor Affleck was interested in one.

She also expressed her wish to have their property divided, though it appears she and Affleck are still negotiating the specifics of who owns what. The filing indicated that she would amend it once all the details were confirmed.

It read, per People, “The exact nature and extent of separate property assets and obligations are unknown to Petitioner at this time. Petitioner reserves the right to amend this Petition when same is ascertained.”

The timeline for finalizing the divorce remains uncertain, but the process could be expedited if Lopez and Affleck reach an agreement on all matters quickly.

Although the pair have not publicly addressed their split, they seem to maintain an amicable relationship. Lopez has been seen visiting Affleck’s rental home in Brentwood, Los Angeles, at least twice since he moved out of their shared Beverly Hills mansion.

One visit occurred after she noticeably snubbed him on social media on his 52nd birthday, while the second visit was to spend time with Affleck’s children—Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 11—whom he shares with his ex-wife, Jennifer Garner. Lopez also has twins, Max and Emme, 16, with ex-husband Marc Anthony.

“Just because she’s not with Ben doesn’t mean that she doesn’t care about his kids,” a source shared about the visit at the time, per People.

They added, “She always cared about them. She spent months looking for the perfect house for their blended family last year.”

Lopez, who shares 16-year-old twins Max and Emme with her ex-husband, Marc Anthony, has a very close relationship with her Affleck’s kids, Violet, 18, Fin (Seraphina), 15, and Samuel, 12, whom he shares with his ex-wife, Jennifer Garner.

However, a source told People Magazine how odd it is that Lopez always talked about how good a dad Affleck was, and yet he has not seen her kids for a long time, even though she is close to his.

“[Jennifer] went out there and told the world what a great dad he was,” the source said. “The fact that he has not seen her kids in a long time, it’s like he left, but she is especially close to his kids.”

Noting how good a mom Lopez is, the source stated that Lopez also stays in contact with Marc Anthony’s kids from his previous relationship.

“But she’s also close to Marc’s kids from [his] previous relationship,” they said, adding, “She keeps in touch with the children, and she’s a good mom.”
