MATTHEW Perry’s Friends co-stars have declined to participate in a Peacock documentary looking into the events surrounding his tragic death in October 2023.
Here’s everything we know about why the beloved funnyman’s fellow cast members decided against appearing in Matthew Perry: A Hollywood Tragedy.
Why aren’t Matthew Perry’s Friends co-stars in his Peacock documentary?
Courtney Cox, Matt LeBlanc, Lisa Kudrow, Jennifer Aniston and David Schwimmer have all chosen not to appear in the Peacock documentary.
This is due to the raw emotional impact of their former co-star’s death and the sensitive nature of its subject matter.
Director Robert Palumbo told the New York Post: “Understandably, they were reluctant to participate in a documentary about Matthew at this point.
“Maybe many years down the line… We understand their decision not to appear.

“Many of us remember getting that news that he had died, and then eventually getting the details [that gave us] sort of waves of anger…
“I feel like people still have him in their hearts and minds.
“As the facts began to come out about what happened to him, how he died and what possibly could have been a ring of people that sort of facilitated his death, I was really upset.”
However, the doc does include an interview with Morgan Fairchild, who played Chandler’s mother in Friends.
Palumbo said: “He was someone who wanted to be remembered, not so much for his time on Friends but for how he has been able to help other people with addiction issues.
“I think that that’s still the case to this day, even after his death.
“I think he will have a legacy of helping other people. And Morgan thought that was really the most important thing to communicate.”
Cause of death
Matthew died from acute effects of ketamine, the actor’s autopsy report revealed.
The report was made public on December 8, 2023 — almost two months after the beloved Friends star was found unresponsive in his hot tub.
It detailed how his assistant found him floating face down in the water when she returned to his Los Angeles home after running errands.
The assistant plunged into the hot tub and dragged Matthew’s body to the steps before calling 911.
First responders pulled Matthew from the water and onto the nearby grass, where he was pronounced dead.
His death was ruled an accident.
How to watch the documentary
