HBO has unveiled the new cast additions for Season 3 of The White Lotus, including Michelle Monaghan, Parker Posey, Jason Isaacs, Leslie Bibb, Dom Hetrakul, and Tayme Thapthimthong.
The third season was first announced in November 2022, and was later revealed to be set in Thailand, revolving around a new set of guests at a different White Lotus resort location. Now, HBO has confirmed that the show will receive support from the Tourism Authority of Thailand, and will begin production “around Koh Samui, Phuket, and Bangkok” in February.
The new cast will join Natasha Rothwell, who will reprise her role as Belinda, the spa manager from Season 1. Series creator and executive producer Mike White will return to write and direct, with David Bernad and Mark Kamine receiving production credits as well.
Speaking about the project, Janet Graham Borba, EVP of Production at HBO and Max, said: “We are pleased to partner with the Tourism Authority of Thailand to execute Mike’s creative vision and showcase all that the beautiful country of Thailand has to offer, as the next group of guests check in to the White Lotus.”
The Tourism Authority of Thailand expressed similar excitement. “The kingdom’s exotic natural beauty, rich historical sites, and diverse landscapes are the perfect settings to share our fascinating culture, fantastic cuisine, top-notch wellness and luxury offerings, and most importantly our people and Thai hospitality,” the organization’s governor, Thapanee Kiatphaibool, said. “The White Lotus project will certainly strengthen the kingdom’s status as a preferred filming destination and a beacon of experience-based tourism.”
In November 2023, HBO CEO Casey Bloys said Season 3 of The White Lotus originally “would have been in play for 2024,” but is now more likely to arrive in 2025, citing delays caused by the now-resolved WGA strike. Reportedly, the show was just beginning to prep for production when the strike began.
The White Lotus Season 2 premiered in October 2022 and featured a cast including Jennifer Coolidge, F. Murray Abraham, Aubrey Plaza, and more.
