Irrfan Khan was one of the finest actors in the Indian film industry. He had the power to captivate one’s attention with his effortless and impactful performances. In Bollywood, Khan has given many remarkable performances. But in Hollywood, too, Irrfan did some noteworthy work. One of the Hollywood films in which the Karwaan actor impressed everyone is The Amazing Spider-Man (2012). The Marc Webb directorial stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Martin Sheen, Denis Leary, Campbell Scott and Sally Field.
In The Amazing Spider-Man movie, Irrfan Khan plays Dr Rajit Ratha, who was an Oscorp executive. He is the immediate superior to Dr Curt Connors (Rhys Ifans). Connors later turns into the Lizard, the film’s villain. When the news of Irrfan being a part of the superhero movie came out, Indian fans were quite delighted. But did you know that the Hindi Medium actor initially had no interest in being a part of the film?
In an interview with Indian Express in the past, Irrfan Khan revealed that he wasn’t willing to be a part of the violent fantasy. But he agreed to do the film for some special people – his kids. Irrfan had said, “I didn’t want to be part of this violent American fantasy. But both my sons were excited and kept insisting that I take it up.” Eventually, the movie’s script won him, and he agreed to be a part of the film.

Irrfan Khan also agreed to do the Andrew Garfield starrer on two conditions – his character shouldn’t be wearing a mask or turn into some other creature. In another interview, Khan had stated that he doesn’t want to brag about his role in the superhero movie. He hated bragging about it. He also stated that he doesn’t have a lengthy role. It’s a pivotal role as it helps the film’s story move ahead somehow.
Meanwhile, apart from The Amazing Spider-Man, Irrfan has been a part of these international movies – The Warrior, The Namesake, The Darjeeling Limited, Slumdog Millionaire, New York, I Love You, Life of Pie, Jurassic World, Inferno and Puzzle. The actor was battling cancer and unfortunately passed away on April 29, 2020, due to health complications. His loss is often felt as he was a wonderful and talented artist who delivered brilliant performances in many amazing stories.
