MUCH to the delight of fans, The Masked Singer is returning to screens for a brand new season.
As a whole host of star-studded celebs battle to be crowned the winner, many watching at home will be keen to know more about what prize is on offer at the end of the series.
What prize does the winner of The Masked Singer 2024 get?
The new series of The Masked Singer starts on Saturday December 30 at 7pm on ITV1, ITVX and STV.
The fifth series will see an air fryer, an owl in school uniform, a yeti with a broken foot, a rat wearing a tool belt, a storm cloud and a cup of bubble tea, all battle it out to be crowned the winner of The Masked Singer.
The series sees celebrities from all corners of the showbiz world don elaborate character costumes and then sing their hearts out.
Viewers – and the show’s panel – then have to try and figure out who is behind the mask based on their voice and clues given throughout each show.
Although The Masked Singer UK is very much identical to its counterpart in the States, it does differ when it comes to the winning prize.
In the US, The Masked Singer champion receives a trophy with a mask on it as their prize for winning the season.
Whereas in the UK, there is no prize or money awarded to the winner.
Whoever comes out on top in the UK simply gets the title of the winner and “bragging rights”.
Who is the host of The Masked Singer 2024?
The popular show is back for its fifth series, with Joel Dommett hosting once again.
Fans will also be pleased to learn that the show’s familiar judging panel of Rita Ora, Jonathan Ross, Mo Gilligan and Davina McCall will be back for The Masked Singer UK 2024.
However, pop star Rita has also joined the US version of the show, and it means she will be unable to film some of the UK episodes.
In her place, the rest of the panel will be joined by guest stars, with The Sun previously revealing Jennifer Saunders will be one of them.
Meanwhile Olly Murs will also appear on the new series.
Who was the winner of The Masked Singer in 2023?
Following a double performance, Rhino was announced as the last series winner and was revealed to be none other than Busted’s Charlie Simpson.
He had a country music theme and was dressed up as a cowboy, performing Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol, Into You by Ariana Grande and Use Somebody by Kings of Leon.
In Clue Song week, they sang The Lion King’s I Just Can’t Wait to Be King, which many believed confirmed Charlie’s identity as it was a reference to King Charles (aka Charlie).
Reminiscing on his own experience in costume, Charlie told The Sun it was one of the most ‘scary’ experiences.
The star said: “It was a really terrifying thing to do. I think that unless you’ve done the show, you can’t imagine how scary it really is.
“I think that it’s a bizarre circumstance to be in a big costume singing on national television and it is terrifying.
“I really feel for the contestants because I think when I first walked out, it’s probably the most scared I’ve ever been.”
Viewers were also treated to a festive special on Christmas Day, which was won by Ainsley Harriott, and an I’m A Celebrity special in November, which was won by Joe Pasquale.
