Wally, a beloved therapy alligator who stole the hearts of many across the country a year ago, may never see his owner again after a prank gone wrong.
Many of you will remember Wally from the time he got denied access to a Philadelphia Phillies game or the time he became best friends with Flyers mascot Gritty.
Sadly, he and handler Joie Henney may never see each other again after the small gator was dumped into a swamp by a trapper.
Wally’s team shared Facebook post on Sunday revealing that he was taken by someone who placed him in another person’s yard to scare them as some sort of prank. That person contacted the authorities, who had a trapper capture Wally and release him into a nearby swamp with about 20 other stray alligators.
Wally The Alligator Is Missing In A Swamp Full Of Stray Gators
“Okay everyone I am going to lay things out to the best of my ability. Wally was stolen by some jerk who likes to drop alligators off into someone’s yard to terrorize them. Once discovered they called DNR, DNR then called a trapper. The trapper came and got Wally and dropped him off in a swamp with about 20 other alligators that same day,” the post reads. “The swamp is very large and the trapper said the chances of them finding Wally is slim to none. But this is Wally
“Joie and friends are currently headed to the swamp to search and will continue daily. We just pray with other alligators present that Wally is ok. We are not releasing the location at this time, however if anyone wants to aide in the search please contact Joie directly for more details. Please continue to pray because we need a miracle. Thank you all for your love and support.”
Emotional support pets are often silly. But they can provide much-needed comfort to owners. Wally did so for his owner as well as many others. So this is a heartbreaking story. Hopefully, with a bit of luck he can be reunited with Henney.
