USC’s star player JuJu Watkins reportedly signed an extension with Nike for one of the richest endorsement deals in women’s basketball.
Women’s basketball is hotter than ever amid players like Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese advancing the WNBA to previously unknown heights and the sport producing new stars. One of the most debated new stars is USC phenom, JuJu Watkins.
Last season, JuJu placed USC on her back and quickly proved she is indeed “one of them ones” with her stellar playing performance.
To paint the picture as clearly as possible, JuJu averaged 27.1 points, 7.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 2.3 steals per game as a freshman. Not only that, but she was second in scoring only behind the Indiana Fever’s Caitlin Clark, the NCAA’s all-time leading scorer.
Now according to CBS Sports, Nike is already sold on JuJu’s greatness and is ready to do business for the foreseeable future. ESPN insider Shams Charania revealed JuJu Watkins and Nike inked a contract extension that is reportedly one of the richest deals in women’s basketball.
Unfortunately, the exact numbers for the endorsement deal haven’t been released but Caitlin Clark signing an 8-year $28M deal earlier this year could suggest just how much JuJu bagged on the extension. With the upcoming season starting shortly, JuJu and UCONN’s Paige Beuckers will lead women’s NCAA basketball to new heights.
Congrats, JuJu!
