Tyler Joseph has confirmed that Twenty One Pilots will be pushing back the release of ‘Clancy’ by one week, to May 24.
The forthcoming record has so far been teased by the release of singles ‘Overcompensate’ and ‘Next Semester’, as well as news of a mammoth worldwide tour in support.
But now, citing the desire to create a music video for each of the album’s tracks, the band have confirmed that the album’s release date will be pushed back by a week.
Explaining in a video to his socials, Tyler shared:
“When I first told Josh [Dun] and Mark [Eshleman] and everyone on our team that I wanted to do a music video for every song on the album ‘Clancy’ that’s coming up, I told them it’s because I love these songs and I believe in them enough to pretend to sing in front of a camera to each one.
“And that’s what we’re going to do, because that’s how I want to present this album.
“But because of that, in order to accomplish that, we need a little bit more time – that’s why I’m making this video. We’re going to push the album back by one week, to May 24th.
“Isn’t that exciting? Just a little more time. Just a little, little more time.”

Twenty One Pilots were recently named Rock Sound 25 Icons, in celebration of Rock Sound’s 25th anniversary, and spoke to us in an exclusive magazine edition.
Explaining what the band means to them, Tyler told Rock Sound:
“It’s hard to make your dreams come true. But it’s not as far away as some people think.
“I think that what Twenty One Pilots has taught me and what it means to me is that when you are passionate about what you do, and you try to pair that with a confidence that what you’re doing is good, that goes so much further than actually having all the talent in the world or all the connections in the world or all the knowledge – all these things that get in the way of feeling like you can go do it.”
