Fans of the Grand Theft Auto franchise will be getting their first official look at the highly-anticipated game at some point in December, but details concerning what we can expect from GTA VI still remain incredibly scarce. However, one leaker with a history of nailing predictions has good news for people who were left wanting more after getting their hands on the previous release.

It’s been more than a decade since the fifth installment in the Grand Theft Auto series hit consoles, and the fact that no “entertainment product” in history has managed to generate more money is a testament to both its quality and staying power of the video game.

Part of the reason the folks at Rockstar Games have been able to rake in more than $8 billion in revenue was the success of GTA: Online, the cash cow it’s milked for every single penny it’s worth thanks to the legion of loyal gamers who created a massive community that continues to thrive to this day.

However, plenty of people are convinced the development of that particular digital realm came at the expense of the single-player DLC that was never released after GTA V dropped; the Grand Theft Auto IV featured two expansions that brought more content to Liberty City, but Los Santos never got the same treatment.

By now, it’s a virtual certainty GTA VI will be taking players back to Vice City based on the leaks we’ve been treated to, and now, Tez2—an insider with a very solid track record—has hinted Rockstar could be addressing those complaints with a slightly different approach.

While you could frame a recent post on the GTA Forums as more of an educated guess than anything, the longtime leaker suggested GTA VI may feature episodic content designed to keep people coming back while simultaneously reducing the crunch developers are subjected to in order to try to cram everything into the initial release.

That model would differ slightly from the single-player DLC that was released for GTA IV, which featured standalone stories as opposed to new missions, weapons, cars, and (potentially) areas that would be incorporated into the base title.

At the end of the day, we’ll have to wait and see if that ends up being the case, but that would really just be the cherry on top for a Grand Theft Auto game that will undeniably take the world by storm when it finally comes out.
