While Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift didn’t endorse Joe Biden as some conspiracy theorists predicted they would following the Kansas City Chiefs’ victory in Super Bowl 58, the future Hall of Fame tight end has made a headline that involves the current President.
According to a report from Variety, Kelce will be making his debut as a movie producer on a film titled My Dead Friend Zoe, which is also set to be the first movie that’s using President Biden’s renewable energy tax credits as financing.
The investors in the low-budget dark comedy, which include Kelce, are the first to take advantage of 2022’s Inflation Reduction Act to finance a film.
The Inflation Reduction Act, which was passed in August 2022, marks “the single largest investment in climate and energy in American history, enabling America to tackle the climate crisis, advancing environmental justice, securing America’s position as a world leader in domestic clean energy manufacturing and putting the United States on a pathway to achieving the Biden-Harris Administration’s climate goals, including a net-zero economy by 2050,” according to the U.S. Department of Energy’s web site.
My Dead Friend Zoe stars which stars Natalie Morales, Ed Harris, and Morgan Freeman, and had a budget of less than $10 million.
Kelce is coming off the third Super Bowl win of his career, adding to his already Canton-worthy resume. In Super Bowl 58 against the San Francisco 49ers, Kelce had nine catches for 93 yards, which were both team-highs.
While some reports (most notably from former NBC Sports reporter Michelle Tafoya) had indicated that Kelce was going to retire after the season, the fact that the Chiefs are in the midst of a legitimate dynasty may cause him to extend his career another year or two.
