Travis Kelce‘s Eras Tour cameo at Wembley Stadium where he walked out on stage after ‘The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived,’ a song that’s believed to be about Taylor’s toxic relationship with Matty Healy, and brought Taylor Swift back to life, was arguably the biggest moment of the Summer for Swifties (so far).
There have been hundreds of millions of minutes spent on social media watching clips of that moment and watching content creators talk about the moment. I forget who made it, but I saw one video on TikTok where the actually got into the nuts and bolts of it and questioned things like whether Travis had to sign a liability waiver, if he was a paid employee for insurance purposes, etc.
Over a week later, Travis Kelce has spilled the beans on his Eras Tour cameo while speaking with his brother Jason on the latest episode of their New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce (Presented by Wave Sports + Entertainment) podcast. About 48 and a half minutes into the episode, Travis Kelce breaks his Eras Tour cameo down saying it all began with a joke he made to Taylor.
Travis Kelce said “I initially mentioned it to Tay(lor Swift)… I was like ‘how funny would it be if I just like rolled out on one of the bikes during the 1989 Era?’”
He went on to say “she started laughing and was like ‘would you seriously be up for doing something like that?’ and I was just like ‘are you kidding… what?? I would love to do that. Are you kidding me? I’ve seen the show enough, you might as well put me to work here.’”
So what started as a joke quickly became a reality. Travis Kelce brought Taylor Swift back to life in a symbolic act in front of her fans after a song that was about one of her toxic exes.
Travis Kelce continue to explain his Eras Tour cameo, saying “she found the perfect part of the show for me to come in. There was no bike in case I ran into somebody else or hit the dancers or anything. It was the safest option and sure enough, Cam and Jan, part of the Tortured Poets era are trying to bring Tay back to life, trying to get her ready to perform the rest of the show so to speak.”
Kelce went on to add “it’s such a fun, playful part of the show. It was the perfect area or time for me to go up there and just be a ham and have some fun not only with her, Cam, and Jan but the crowd… And try to get everybody really excited for the rest of the show. It was awesome.”
Travis’ brother Jason was all-in on the moment. He 100% agreed “it worked” and said “you guys killed it, it was so fun to watch.”
Travis also added “I always wanted to pull out this move but I never knew when I should pull it out, like a (time) it made sense. And it was the ‘Dumb & Dumber’ Jim Carrey tap dances. That’s one of my favorite moves of all time.” Kelce finished the segment by saying how it “was an honor being on stage” with her.
I still want to know, did he have to sign any waivers for insurance purposes? Was he technically an employee during the cameo?
