After he used his Wednesday, January 1 appearance on ESPN’s First Take to rant and rave about not being invited to the New York City premiere of A Complete Unknown, Mike ‘Mad Dog’ Russo is headed across the pond to the London premiere of the film courtesy of Timothee Chalamet himself.

Earlier this week, Timothee Chalamet posted a clip of Mad Dog’s rant to his Instagram, saying that the legendary New York City radio host needs to be invited to a European premiere.

Then, on the Wednesday episode of First Take, Mad Dog revealed that Searchlight Studios had reached out, following a request from Chalamet, to invite him to the London premiere next week. Mad Dog says he’ll be taking his daughter to the London premiere on Tuesday, January 14.

“How about yesterday? I got to Cablevision to return a box. I get a call from [Jeff Saturday’s agent] Jill. she says, ‘Chris, you’re not going to believe this… Mr. Chalamet called Searchlight, who called us and offered you two tickets to one of those premieres next week in Europe,” Mad Dog gleefully revealed.

“So, Tuesday night — thanks to Timothee Chalamet, he deserves all the credit and he never heard of me before this show, let’s be clear — but because of him, I will take my daughter, I will fly — I’m not going to go private, Steve’s plane was not available — I’m going to show up in London and I will go to that premiere.”

Mad Dog may be selling Chalamet a bit short about knowing who he was prior to First Take, though, as Chalamet has proved over the years — both before and after his fame — that he’s a fervent New York City sports fan, which would likely mean he’d heard of Mad Dog over the years.

As Mad Dog was detailing the story of Stephen A. Smith — and genuinely thanking him for the platform First Take provides him with — SAS could only grin and say there’s “more to come,” suggesting there are more Chalamet-related surprises in store for Mad Dog to come.

“What I would say to you is, there’s more coming, stay tuned,” Stephen A. Smith said when Molly Qerim asked how he feels about Mad Dog missing next week’s episode to go to the premiere.

In addition to Chalamet in what will likely be an Oscar-nominated performance as Bob Dylan, A Complete Unknown — directed by Walk The Line and Logan filmmaker James Mangold — also stars Edward Norton, Elle Fanning, Monica Barbaro, Boyd Holbrook, Dan Fogler, Norbert Leo Butz, and Scoot McNairy.
