Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong has revealed that one of the band’s singles was originally intended for 5 Seconds Of Summer.
In a new interview with People, the frontman looked back on some classic tracks and spoke about how ‘Still Breathing’, from 2016 album ‘Revolution Radio’, was composed with 5SOS in mind.
He said “There’s a band called 5 Seconds of Summer who wanted me to write a song for them. All of a sudden I was writing the lyrics, and I was like, “Oh my God, there’s no fucking way I’m giving these guys this song.” There’s all those [lyrics] where it’s the last moment of someone’s life — it’s so intense. It’s just a song about being a survivor.”
Green Day’s new album ‘Saviors’ is set for release this Friday (January 19). They have also just revealed that their upcoming stadium tour will see them perform both ‘Dookie’ and ‘American Idiot’ in full.
5SOS and Green Day have crossed paths a few times over the years, most recently appearing at When We Were Young Festival in Las Vegas together.
