‘These influencers totally deserve it’ say trolls as they slam a woman who risked her hair in blue lagoon for snaps

Amelia shared the major blunder on social media, where it's racked up a whopping 60million views

A WOMAN has gone viral after sharing how she risked her hair for the perfect snaps whilst enjoying a swim in a blue lagoon.

Blue lagoons, which are found across the world – including Iceland and the UK – may look like the ideal setting for a romantic getaway and of course, a fantastic opportunity for your social media feed.

One person who certainly made the most out of this is beauty lover Amelia Rena Carta-Mccarthy – however, little did she realise she’d face some major consequences of it afterwards.

Although the water in blue lagoons is not necessarily harmful for your hair, it will leave your locks feeling incredibly dry and even matted.

This, experts explained, is due to the high levels of minerals, such as sulphur, silica, and magnesium – and whilst your skin will love these, your locks will not appreciate them as much.

To minimise these potential effects, it’s recommended to avoid immersing your hair in the water for too long – and several swimming areas will even have warning signs to remind tourists about the dangers.

People are also advised to best rinse their hair with fresh water after exiting the lagoon, which is then followed by shampoo and a nourishing conditioner to restore the moisture levels.

However, although Amelia did ”see all the signs”, she chose to ignore them, dipping her hair in the water for snaps.

According to the young woman, she was then left with a major hair horror ”for weeks after”, as her locks had become matted and so dry, she even warned others to not make the same grave error.

Taking to TikTok, the young stunner said: ”Whatever you do, DON’T put your hair in the blue lagoon.”

She added in the caption: ”Hair’s still recovering, pics are cute though.”

But although Amelia was convinced the dry strands of hair were ”worth” the photos on her Instagram, people on social media were anything but impressed.

Her video soon went viral, racking up more than an astronomical 60million views, with some reckoning she only had herself to blame.

”Nah, these influencers totally deserve it,” wrote one person.

”Want to do these sh*t for clout when there’s thousands of signs telling not to sink hair.”

Another chimed in: ”They tell you to keep your hair up, give you caps and a mask and everything.”

”People don’t listen to the rules and then are surprised when something bad happens,” a third penned.

Luckily, it wasn’t all mocking, as some also raced to hit back at the trolls.

”Ok but definitely worth it though, you look so stunning,” wrote a kind TikTok user.

”At least it looked pretty then,” someone else agreed.
