On Oct. 1, a new documentary entitled Enormous: The Gorge Story is set to be released digitally via Greenwich Entertainment. After a successful theatrical run, the film, which chronicles the story of the fabled Gorge Amphitheatre in rural Gorge, Wash., will be available on various streaming platforms.
Enormous: The Gorge Story presents the history and relevance of the breathtaking outdoor venue–which has the capacity of holding up to 27,500 concert-goers–since opening its doors in 1986. The favorite on-stage location for many musicians, the Gorge Amphitheatre, has driven crowds worldwide to partake in the spectacle of a live concert experience that emphasizes the age-old past time of camping with a purpose.
To establish the particular significance of the Gorge Amphitheatre for musicians who have performed perched above the mighty Columbia River, Enormous: The Gorge Story elicited the help of Dave Matthews, Pearl Jam’s Mike McCready, Jason Mraz, Steve Miller, and a variety of passionate fans, who have made the considerable trek to experience the magic the venue has to offer.
The film’s director, Nic Davis, offered a comment via a press release. He stated: “With The Gorge recently reopened, after more than a year of shuttered theaters, music venues, and a dire lack of live communal experiences, Enormous: The Gorge Story couldn’t be released at a better time.” The director continued, “Our film is about the power of place. The Gorge Amphitheatre began as a family-owned Washington state winery with a rough and ready plywood stage eager for entertainment. Over the last several decades, it has become a sought-after destination for live music aficionados and those just looking to have a good time. “There’s no place like it in the world,” volunteered Matthews.
