Tenacious D have finally shared the cover we’ve all craved, with their take on Britney Spears’ ‘…Baby One More Time’.
Jack Black and Kyle Gass’ full rendition of the track comes after they went viral for a snippet of their take on it on TikTok.
And now they’ve shared the full thing, which is set to appear in the closing credits of upcoming film Kung Fu Panda 4.
Owing to Jack Black starring in the film himself, the Tenacious D duo used their red carpet moment to film the video for the cover, and as such it features a wealth of stars, including Bryan Cranston, James Hong, Ke Huy Quan and Dustin Hoffman.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter about how the cover came about, Jack Black explained that Kung Fu Panda 4 director Mike Mitchell asked if they could have a Tenacious D song for the film’s end credits, to which Jack Black asked if they could do a Britney track, explaining:
“He said, yeah, and he said, ‘Let’s do Hit Me Baby One More Time’ for the kung fu aspect of that song,’ and we were like, ‘Hell yeah.’
“So we got in the recording studio and we did it and we’re really proud of the track. We shot a little impromptu music video in Kyle’s hotel room and we put it on the internet and it’s gone crazy viral. It’s exciting.”
Tenacious D released their first original new track, ‘Video Games’, before sharing a cover of another sort of game in Chris Isaak’s ‘Wicked Game’.
Next month, they’ll be kicking-off their ‘Spicy Meatball Tour’, which will have support from progressive metal band Crusade and comedian and musician Dave Hill.
