An Australian woman said she convinced her date during their second meet-up to get a bold hand tattoo. Viewers are split on whether the gesture is a green or red flag.
In a video with over 1 million views, TikToker Nicole Faith Greenway (@nicolefaithgreenway1) posted a clip of her date lying on the tattoo table behind an observation window. He looks over at her apprehensively.
“Walk Em Like a Dog” by Saucy Santana plays in the background. It’s a song about dominating a male partner. On-screen text reads, “2nd time hanging out with this guy I met on Hinge, and I convinced him to get his first tattoo.”
“Told him having no tattoos is a red flag because it means he has commitment issues,” she wrote in the caption.
She shows her date’s new tattoo, which reads “Commit” in a bold font on the side of his hand.
Is Getting A Tattoo Really A Sign Of Commitment?
Getting a permanent tattoo means you’re committing to a design on your body for the rest of your life. But does that level of commitment translate to romantic relationships? Research suggests it’s the opposite. According to a study by the Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, tattooed people may actually be more impulsive.
Commenters on Greenway’s video share divided opinions on her date’s last-minute “commit” tattoo.
“His first tattoo is a hand tattoo??? he needs to recognize that he makes poor decisions lol,” a commenter said.
“He fine affff tho but decision making ain’t his finest strong suit,” another wrote.
“This is an excellent use of your free will,” a third added.
“Damn. He’s so hot for this,” a fourth exclaimed.
Others suggested her date simply wanted to impress her.
“He either really wants u or already needed a little push for his first tattoo,” one wrote.
“And now he’ll always think of you when he sees it. Stay no man’s peace,” another said.
Some commenters joked that Greenway should also “commit” since she talked him into the tattoo.
“You better commit to him now. Cause gawd damn,” a viewer said.
“Oh, he really likes youuuu, get married now,” another joked.
