Survivor Star Erika Casupanan in Workout Gear Does "Three Chin Ups"

Erika Casupanan is best known for being the winner of the forty-first season of Survivor. She would be the first Canadian to win the series. She would then appear on the first season of The Traitors Canada and start her own podcast, Happy To See Me. On March 28, Casupanan shared a video on Instagram of herself doing chin ups. She captioned the post, “November: one chin up. February: two chin ups. March: three chin ups!!! Remember, I had years of training with 0 chin ups. Truly surprised at how quickly you can progress when you’re consistent.” How does she stay so fit? Read on to see 5 ways Erika Casupanan stays in shape and the photos that prove they work.

As you can see from this Instagram post, Casupanan loves to swim to stay in shape. Better Health states that swimming has a lot of benefits. “Swimming is a good all-round activity because it: keeps your heart rate up but takes some of the impact stress off your body, builds endurance, muscle strength and cardiovascular fitness, helps you maintain a healthy weight, healthy heart and lungs.”

Casupanan wants to inspire others. She shared this post on Instagram of herself doing a speaking event about her time on Survivor. Casupanan captioned the post, “Sometimes the scary moments are the ones you learn from, right? Got to spend the weekend speaking to brave young girls about my Exile Island experience. I remember being a kid and the feeling of being left out. It was rewarding to share what that experience taught me about moving through nerves and thinking positively when you feel isolated. Who knew that my #Survivor ~nightmare~ ended up being a source of connection that allows me to help others to build their confidence?”

Casupanan revealed on Instagram that she set goals to do as many pull-ups as she can. She opened up about setting this goal in the caption of this Instagram post. “I spent months strengthening all of the muscles I needed to make it happen. I got close … and then the pandemmy happened and threw off my plans. Then I starved on an island on TV, lost all of my muscle and had to rebuild basically from scratch. But this fall, I finally reached my goal and pulled myself up on my own!”

In the caption of the previous Instagram post, Casupanan revealed that she strength trains. “When I started strength training, I wanted to work towards feeling strong. So, I set a goal to do a chin up.” According to The Mayo Clinic, strength training has a lot of benefits. “Strength training may enhance your quality of life and improve your ability to do everyday activities. Strength training can also protect your joints from injury. Building muscle also can contribute to better balance and may reduce your risk of falls. This can help you maintain independence as you age.”

As you can see from her recent post, Casupanan has started learning how to do chin-ups. Ace Fitness states that the exercise has a lot of benefits, and recommends personal trainers to incorporate them in sessions. “Chin-ups can help improve grip strength, posture and appearance, while also helping to strengthen muscles that stabilize the spine. This, in turn, can help reduce one’s risk of back pain and injury. Even if a client is only able to do one or two chin-ups at a time, this exercise offers tremendous benefits, especially for the back, shoulders, forearms and biceps.”
