It’s been quite the ride for Slipknot fans over the past few days – and now the band have released surprise 20-minute EP, ‘Adderall’.
The surprise new EP dropped overnight, and arrives amid a lot of Slipknot news.
First, it was announced earlier this week that founding member Shawn “Clown” Crahan would be missing the European tour, in order to deal with his wife’s health issues.
Then, more surprisingly, the masked metallers disclosed that Craig Jones had left the band, putting out a statement that read:
“To our fans, Slipknot is announcing that we have parted ways with Craig Jones. We wish Jones all the best for the future.”
Jones had been a member of the group since 1996, appearing on all of the band’s studio albums, from their 1999 self-titled debut to 2022’s ‘The End, So Far’.
Slipknot then posted a picture of a new masked member playing keyboards at Austria’s Nova Rock Festival on Wednesday night (June 07).
The band then directed fans via their socials to a site called youcantkillme.com, which led many to an eerie YouTube video for new track ‘Death March’.
Well now that track has proved to be just the beginning of surprise new EP, ‘Adderall’.
The 20-minute project isn’t heavy by any means and includes a few renditions of the title track, including an ‘Instrumental’ and ‘Rough Demo’ version.
Who knows whether there’ll be yet more twists and turns to come from the masked outfit, as they gear up to Download Festival this Sunday, June 11.
