Earlier this year, it was announced that Williams would be working with FIFA on some songs that will debut at this year’s FIFA Club World Cup.

“I am super excited that there is a proper competition happening this summer. Whenever there is a summer without football, I get very, very bored.”

This tournament began 25 years ago, and pits 32 of the best clubs in the world against each other, in the style of the FIFA World Cup. As teams play against each other, more and more will make their way through the rounds, until they reach the final stages of the tournament.

The event is taking place this year, in the US, between June and July. It’s being hosted a year ahead of the World Cup, which will be hosted in Canada, the US, and Mexico.

Williams and FIFA announced their partnership in January, at an event that kicked off the FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour. This event is a six-month tour that will have the trophy visiting the 32 cities that will be participating in the tournament.

The celebration was hosted at Tiffany & Co.’s flagship Manhattan store, in New York since the legendary retailer designed the trophy and its look. The event concluded with various performances, including one by the pianist and composer Alexis French, who opened the show, and Williams, who closed it out with some of his biggest hits.

“The FIFA Club World Cup is definitely going to take soccer in the United States and the global football community to a new level.”

Williams’ musical projects with FIFA have yet to be announced, but he appears thrilled with the opportunity of getting to collaborate with the organization. Aside from his work as a musician, Williams is also invested in soccer, being the President of the English club Port Vale FC.

He previously performed at the 2018 FIFA World Cup, singing in the opening ceremony.

“Football is my security blanket and what better than this massive competition this summer? I can’t wait to watch,” said Williams.
