Since 2013, Adult Swim’s Rick and Morty has created an expansive, multi-dimensional comedy/sci-fi epic that can seemingly go anywhere and do anything. But it wasn’t until now, in 2025, that the series would finally give us something we never expected: a spinoff! At San Diego Comic-Con, during the Rick and Morty panel, fans received a major surprise when Keith David appeared on stage. David portrays President Curtis on the series and has for many seasons. Now, the president gets his own series, aptly titled President Curtis.
In the forthcoming Adult Swim series co-created by Rick and Morty Executive Producers Dan Harmon and James Siciliano, David will reprise his longtime role as President Andre Curtis. Stephanie Beatriz (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) and Jim Rash (Community) also star.
“President Curtis has always been a blast to play,” said David. “Getting to explore his world more deeply in this new series is a dream. I can’t wait for fans to see what kind of chaos he stirs up when Rick isn’t around to steal the spotlight.”
President Curtis follows the Commander-in-Chief and his eccentric staff as they tackle the kind of crises that Rick Sanchez could never be bothered with. Those include interdimensional diplomacy to paranormal investigations and unexplained phenomena.
It’s clear Harmon has been a big Keith David fan for years. Not only has he been the voice of President Curtis (and Reverse Giraffe) on Rick and Morty, but he played Elroy Patashnik on the final season of Community. Plus he narrated the “Pillows and Blankets” episode.
No release date yet for President Curtis, but we’re excited to see some diplomatic shenanigans once it’s here.
