Reviews for Jennifer Lopez’s new Netflix movie Atlas were released on Friday, May 24. Jennifer’s Lopez new Netflix movie Atlas was *also* released on that same day. That should tell you all you need to know when it comes to Netflix’s faith in the film, which is being wholly ravaged by critics.

Lopez stars in the film alongside Simu Liu, Mark Strong, and Sterling K. Brown, which sees “Atlas Shepherd (Jennifer Lopez), a brilliant but misanthropic data analyst with a deep distrust of artificial intelligence, join a mission to capture a renegade robot with whom she shares a mysterious past, but when plans go awry, her only hope of saving the future of humanity from AI is to trust it.”

When the first trailer was released earlier this Spring, movie fans panned it for looking like it was made by AI, and according to reviews, the film itself isn’t all that better than its first impression, as it currently has a dismal 9% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes.

“Jennifer Lopez and Simu Liu in Another Netflix Movie Made to Half-Watch While Doing Laundry,” The Hollywood Reporter titled their review.

“Hidden somewhere beneath all the generic dialogue, embarrassing plot, mediocre action and oddly ineffective performances, there’s a good idea in Brad Peyton’s Atlas, it’s a shame the filmmakers never found it,” said The Wrap.

“A dearth of original ideas undercuts the appeal of Atlas, leaving Lopez to fend for herself in much the same way her character is forced to in the film’s formulaic story,” reviewed Variety.

Atlas, one of many films Lopez has made with the streamer in recent years, is now streaming on Netflix. You can check out the official trailer for the film below.
