The first look at Johnny Depp in Day Drinker, his first major Hollywood role since 2018, has been released. Depp has been absent from the business for much of the 2020s, having only appeared in foreign films.

Johnny Depp, 61 years old, has not appeared in a major Hollywood production since 2018, when he starred in the much-maligned Harry Potter prequel film Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. Depp, due to the fallout of his various lawsuits filed by and against his ex-wife Amber Heard, with each side alleging domestic abuse.

In addition to Depp, Day Drinker also stars Academy Award winner Penélope Cruz, who has previously starred alongside Depp in Blow, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, and Murder on the Orient Express, and Madelyn Cline, who is best known for the Netflix series Outer Banks and the Rian Johnson-directed film Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.

Check out the official synopsis and first-look at Day Drinker, via Lionsgate, below:

In addition to Depp, Cruz, and Cline, Day Drinker will also star Manu Ríos, Arón Piper, Juan Diego Botto and Anika Boyle. Helmed by 500 Days of Summer, The Amazing Spider-Man, Gifted, and Snow White director Marc Webb, Day Drinker recently began production in Spain and is set to hit theaters in 2026.

Over the last year or so, there have been rumors of Disney developing a new Pirates of the Caribbean film that would see Depp return. If Day Drinker is a success and Depp’s return is publicly received, the Mouse House will like make a sixth Pirates film with Depp a reality sooner rather than later.
