Paul Mescal isn’t so much one of many Normal People as he is an absolute menace to his mother (Emily Watson) in A24’s upcoming thriller God’s Creatures, which just released its first trailer. Take a look below.
From directing duo Saela Davis and Anna Rose Holmer (The Fits), God’s Creatures stars Mescal as Irish prodigy Brian O’Hara who suddenly moves back in with his mother, Aileen (Watson), after living in Australia for seven years. Soon after his return, Brian is accused of an “unspeakable act” against his ex-girlfriend (Aisling Franciosi), prompting Aileen to decide between protecting her son and following her own moral compass. The film is set to hit theaters in late September.
Mescal is known for dating Phoebe Bridgers and starring in the Sally Rooney adaptations Normal People and Conversations with Friends, while Watson has appeared in such films as Breaking the Waves and Punch Drunk Love. She last appeared in the UK mini-series Too Close. As for Franciosi, the actress first appeared in The Fall before starring in Jennifer Kent’s 2019 film The Nightingale.
