Paramount Global is getting rid of Noggin, a subscription video-on-demand service for preschoolers, The Hollywood Reporter reported Thursday.

Noggin got swept up in the recent wave of layoffs at Paramount, which left 800 employees across the company jobless.

All of the Noggin staff department is included in the crew of 800 people recently fired.

“CEO Bob Bakish said the layoffs are part of ‘streamlining costs’ at the conglomerate,” the news outlet revealed.

The app will stop taking new subscribers and shut down later this year.

“Noggin features a library of educational games, books and videos aimed at kids under 7, along with shows from Nickelodeon’s Nick Jr. roster including Blue’s Clues & You, Paw Patrol and Peppa Pig,” THR outlined.

“As of 2019, the service — which charges $8 monthly or $71 for an annual subscription — had about 2.5 million subscribers.”

The cable channel Nickelodeon launched Noggin under its umbrella, which included shows geared to teens via the channel’s nighttime block, The N.

GETTING THE BOOT!

Paramount has been axing a few shows over the last few months.

Just months after releasing their respective Season 1 finales, Paramount+ decided not to renew Fatal Attraction or Rabbit Hole for second seasons, Variety reported in October.

A spokesperson for the service said in a statement: “Fatal Attraction and ‘Rabbit Hole will not be returning for second seasons on Paramount+.

“We want to thank both series’ entire creative teams, crews and the fantastic casts for their dedication to bringing these series to life.

“Both Fatal Attraction and Rabbit Hole will continue to be available on Paramount+ for audiences to discover.”

The former, which premiered in April and concluded in May, starred Lizzy Caplan and Joshua Jackson.

The latter, which featured Designated Survivor star Kiefer, began in March and ended in May.

The cancellation of two of its newer shows comes just a few months after Paramount+ axed a slew of its other programs.

In June, The Game, Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies, Queen of the Universe, and Star Trek: Prodigy were all canceled.

ON THE CHOPPING BLOCK

The Star Trek series had previously been renewed for a second season, and all of its new episodes were almost completely finished being made at the time of its cancellation.

Executive producer Aaron J. Waltke later revealed on Twitter: “All I can do is [reiterate that] we are completing Season 2 on schedule and seeking a new home!”

A few weeks ago, the animated series was able to find a new home with Netflix.

The streamer announced earlier this month that it had saved Star Strek: Prodigy, with the previously-released Season 1 arriving later this year.

Fans will then get to see the new, Season 2 episodes on Netflix in 2024, though an exact release date has not yet been revealed.

Executive producer Alex Kurtzman and co-showrunners Dan and Kevin Hageman said in a statement: “Thank you to our incredible Star Trek: Prodigy fans, who championed not just a show, but a community that’s always been connected by the belief that we build a better future together.

“We set out to inspire you, but you inspired us.

“The team is still hard at work on the second season, and we can’t wait to share it with the amazing fans around the world.”
