Christopher Nolan’s hard work finally paid off, and he won his first Oscar for directing and Best Picture for Oppenheimer. Now, all eyes are on his next project, and some news reports claim that his next film will be a remake. He will not stray away from his genre of mystery, though.
Nolan and his Oppenheimer team won seven Oscars at the 96th Academy Awards this year. He is known for making movies with complex subjects and themes. The celebrated director gave the world one of the most iconic villains in cinema history with Heath Ledger’s Joker in The Dark Knight Rises. Even after making so many remarkable films like Interstellar, Inception, and Tenet, the director never received an Oscar, but it has finally happened.
According to Variety’s report, Christopher Nolan’s next film will allegedly be as interesting as his previous films. As per the report, it will be a remake of a British show from the 1960s and it is called The Prisoner. Patrick McGoohan created it and was also the lead on the show. There has yet to be an official confirmation from the director’s side.
For the unversed, in 2009, Christopher Nolan’s name was also attached to The Prisoner’s remake. But it was dismissed after a mini-series based on The Prisoner aired on AMC. Captain America star Hayley Atwell and X-Men alum Ian McKellen were featured in that six-part mini-series.
About ‘The Prisoner’-
The series revolved around an unnamed British intelligence agent who abruptly resigned from his job and decided to go on a trip. While he was packing his luggage, he was rendered unconscious in his home. After waking up, he finds himself in a mysterious location with a re-creation of the interior of his house.
Netizens’ reaction to this report-
One user wrote, “Based on his track record, at this point I’m ready to watch whatever Nolan does next. The problem isn’t remakes, the problem is bad, unimaginative movies.”
Another said, “I’m very much intrigued by this.”
One fan said, “As a fan of the series, I’d be all in for that. Seems like a good fit, and I’m interested in what he’d do with it.”
Followed by one saying, “To be quite honest, this is a match made in heaven. The Prisoner fits Nolan’s sensibilities nicely.”
And, “oh hell yeah.”
About Oppenheimer-
Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer is based on the 2005 biography American Prometheus by Kai Bird. It chronicled the story of J Robert Oppenheimer, the American theoretical physicist known as the father of the atomic bomb. The movie detailed the physicist’s studies, his direction of the Los Alamos Laboratory during World War II, and his fall.
