Sims has been open about her journey with her body. One thing she decided to do was gain weight. She tells Reveal Magazine that she went through a period when she excessively worked out, but after seeing a photo of herself, she realized she needed to change. “I’d starve myself to the point where I had to eat and then I got the food out straightaway, even if it was something really little. I looked at at one picture and thought, ‘I look anorexic.’ I looked so ill and I knew I had to put on weight.”

Sims shared some of her wellness and life secrets on the Pretty Little Thing podcast. She says that she likes to go to sleep while listening to experts. “I go to sleep, listening to experts when I’m upset and they talk to you. If you go to sleep, it goes in your subconscious mind.”

Another thing Sims turns to for guidance is astrology. She tells Pretty Little Thing, “I also am spiritual. So I listen to my star sign for that little bit of like, yeah, just gimme a little sign forward to and they get it spot on as well.”

“I was like a, literally like a stick insect as a child, like really like flat chested, straight down skinny. Let us say I was unique looking, had big teeth, big lips, you know? So everyone always used to say she should do modeling. And I wasn’t a confident child. I never thought I was pretty as a child. And I definitely didn’t as a teenager. So like the more people said it, I used to think, if I could be a model, then I’d probably feel confident and I didn’t have any other plan. I wasn’t good at anything. Except for art,” she has said.

“I grew up with magazines, girls magazines, there was like these ones, they used to come out every week and they used to always have a modeling competition in there.” she went to one. “I didn’t win. But the photographer liked me. And he said, you know, like you should actually do modeling. So I went back for another photo shoot. Anyway, I got a contract, but my family decided to move and then that just squashed,” she has said.
