Wilde and Styles took a break from their whirlwind relationship, as noted by People last Friday. At the moment, there is no assurance that they will rekindle their affair in the near future.

A source for the news outlet described the breakup as a “tricky situation,” suggesting that there are several details to the split that might never become public.

“The break has been difficult for Olivia,” the insider said. “They have had some issues, but Olivia thought they were gonna work through it all. She is disappointed. It’s just a tricky situation, though.”

The “As It Was” singer, 28, and the “Don’t Worry, Darling” director, 38, dated for nearly two years before splitting. Their romance, which was well documented in the media, had many of their fans hoping that the pair would take things a step further.

However, per another source close to the duo, Wilde and Styles “have different priorities that are keeping them apart,” which further scuttled the chances of the relationship lasting longer.

Although they are no longer together, the pair seem to have remained friends as Wilde and her children, daughter Daisy, 6, and son Otis, 8, whom she shares with her ex, Jason Sudeikis, were spotted having fun at Styles’ Nov. 15 concert in Los Angeles.

Further insight into the breakup by an insider revealed that it was a “very amicable decision,” as seen by Wilde’s decision to make time to attend Styles’ concert. The source also shared that Styles is “still touring and is now going abroad” to continue his Love On Tour shows, while Wilde “is focusing on her kids and her work in L.A.”

The actress was recently spotted at the 13th Governors Awards on Saturday, looking all glammed up on the red carpet, a clear indication that she had taken the split in stride.

With the relationship ended in the meantime, Wilde and Styles are enjoying a bit of respite from being tabloid fodder after facing many controversies throughout their relationship.

On the one hand, Wilde and Sudeikis’ custody battle over their children caused unending drama during her relationship with Styles. Additionally, persistent claims that the “Don’t Worry, Darling” director and the film’s leading actress, Florence Pugh, were at odds were also rumored for a time, with many people speculating that it was due to her relationship with the One Direction alum.

Back in September, members of the film’s crew had to come out and defend the director, commenting that Wilde was an “incredible leader” and did not put the production in harm’s way.

“Any allegations about unprofessional behavior on the set of Don’t Worry Darling are completely false,” the team stated, per People.

Despite dating for nearly two years, intimate details about Wilde and Styles rarely made it into the media as the pair kept that part of their life away from the spotlight.

Speaking with Rolling Stone in August, Styles shared insight into why he kept his relationship private.

“I’ve never talked about my life away from work publicly and found that it’s benefited me positively,” he told the publication. “There’s always going to be a version of a narrative, and I think I just decided I wasn’t going to spend the time trying to correct it or redirect it in some way.”

Wilde echoed the same idea during an interview with Vanity Fair. She said, “I think once you crack open the window, you can’t then be mad when mosquitos come in,” The “Booksmart director said at the time.
