Olivia Rodrigo has announced the follow-up LP to her 2021 debut, Sour. Her second album is titled Guts, and it’s out September 8 via Geffen. The first single, “Vampire,” is out this Friday, June 30.

Rodrigo announced “Vampire,” her first solo single since Sour, earlier this month. She wrote the song and more of Guts with Daniel Nigro, a collaborator on the debut. CD and 7″ single versions of the single will have a demo version as a B-side. “For me, this album is about growing pains and trying to figure out who I am at this point in my life,” Rodrigo said in a statement about Guts. “I feel like I grew 10 years between the ages of 18 and 20—it was such an intense period of awkwardness and change. I think that’s all just a natural part of growth, and hopefully the album reflects that.”

In 2022, Rodrigo won the Grammy Awards for Best New Artist, Best Pop Vocal Album, and Best Pop Solo Performance. Following those wins, she spent the year touring, speaking out to her audiences about abortion rights after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. It was also a year where she performed “Deja Vu” and “Uptown Girl” with Billy Joel, inducted Alanis Morissette into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame, sang “Torn” with Natalie Imbruglia, and sang “You’re So Vain” for Carly Simon’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction.
