Nicolas Cage Should Still Be Ghost Rider, Dammit

This has been the subject of much discussion lately after fans noticed a poster in She-Hulk seemingly advertising “Johnny Blaze,” Ghost Rider’s alter-ego. Well, the producers later clarified that the poster was actually for “Donny Blaze” a magician “who just wanted a cool name.” And before that, Ryan Gosling made headlines by publicly stating that he’d be down to play G.R. in a Marvel movie.

But if they do bring Ghost Rider into the MCU, we’re of the firm opinion that it should be Nicolas “I’ve already built my own goddamn tomb” Cage.

Sure the first two Cage-starring Ghost Rider movies weren’t great – but that wasn’t his fault. And if anyone has proven that he can rise to the occasion after slumming it in some crappy movie, it’s the guy who voiced Speckles the guinea pig in G-Force the same year he starred in a bonkers Werner Herzog film. Actually, maybe we should just add CGI to a few scenes and make this the new Ghost Rider movie:

And more to the point, we’re now living in a time when older actors are routinely being brought back to reprise past superhero roles, like Tobey Maguire in Spider-Man: No Way Home and Michael Keaton in The Flash (if it ever sees the light of day). So wouldn’t it be nice if Cage got a really great Ghost Rider film to sink his teeth into?
