In his latest GQ cover story, actor Nicolas Cage explained why he has no intentions of remarrying if he ever were to split from his fifth wife, Riko Shibata.
During the conversation, which centered around the 58-year-old actor’s prolific career and current endeavors, Cage discussed how he loves people completely and plans on spending the rest of his life with Shibata.
“I am a romantic, and when I’m in love, I want to give that person everything I can,” he said. “It’s my expression of saying, ‘I love you. I want to spend the rest of my life with you.’ And this is it for me. I mean, this is not happening again. This is it. This is it.”
The couple are expecting their first child together, and Cage also revealed that they have two names picked out: Akira Francesco for a boy and Lennon Augie for a girl.
“Augie was my father’s nickname. And my uncle has decided to change his name to Francesco,” Cage said. “I think it’s so sweet. It’s like a little edamame. A little bean.”
Among the several other topics Cage got into during the interview, he also addressed any public opinions about him being “crazy,” saying that he couldn’t have had such a long career if he was.
“The misconception that I’m crazy, which people seem to enjoy, the madman or whatever—to which I simply say you can’t survive 43 years in Hollywood or star in over 120 movies if you’re crazy,” he said. “You’re not going to get bonded. They’re not going to work with you.”
Cage is starring in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, which is premiering on April 22. Head here to read Cage’s full interview with GQ.
